The sun was shining all day and it was a beautiful day at St. Tikhon's. We were able to take advantage of the great weather and take our whole-camp photo along with age group photos. The campers are having a great time and enjoying all of their activities. We would like to highlight two of their activities and fill you in on what they have been doing.
As mentioned in our previous post, our weekly theme is "Living Things Both Small and Great". Today's daily workshop theme was "Noah's Dove". Campers participated in a variety of projects as they learned about this biblical account. The blue shirts focused on the Old Testament account of Noah and the animals he has taken onto the ark, the Flood, and the rainbow—the sign of the Promise (the Covenant). The green shirts focused on Noah and the Flood and the importance of the dove that returns to the ark “with a freshly-plucked olive leaf in her mouth.” (Genesis 8:11). They created amazing mural artwork. The yellow shirts explored the same topic and made origami doves.
Iconography is also a big hit so far. We are blessed to have two iconographers working with our campers. The teens have started writing their own icons. The green shirts discussed the icon of the Holy Trinity and worked on a small icon of the Holy Trinity for themselves. We are already some amazing talent!
Stay tuned for more tomorrow!
