Memory Eternal: Maria Proch
With heavy hearts, we share news of the passing of our dear friend Maria Proch. Maria fell asleep in the Lord on June 26, 2018. Memory Eternal! Vechnaya Pamyat!
For countless campers, counselors, and retreaters, Maria's bright smile represented the warmth and happiness they found at the heart of the Summer Camp and Winter Retreat programs. Through the simple act of an embrace, Maria could transfer the kind of grace, strength, and support that lifted moods and imbued a renewed sense of spirit. Her light for Christ and for the youth of our programs - and for every child whose life she touched - has shone so brightly that we will feel this loss for many years to come.
Maria was a member of the OCA Department of Christian Education (DCE), specializing in Early Childhood Education.
She was also the longtime Director of Church School Education and Curriculum for the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, formerly the Department of Religious Education (DRE). She coordinated the annual Diocesan Winter Teen Retreat program from the 1990s through the mid 2000s. She also coordinated the annual Diocesan Women's Retreat.
Maria served as a Kitchen Staff member at St. Tikhon’s Camp and was a beloved member of the St. Tikhon’s Summer Camp Family.
